This Wednesday, VUJU proudly hosted its first on-campus event, an inspiring art therapy workshop in collaboration with Argentinian-Jewish artist Alex Woz. Known for his vibrant depictions of diverse Jewish communities, Woz’s art carries powerful messages of identity, resilience, and unity.
The event began with a compelling lecture by Woz, where he shared his personal journey, his encounters with antisemitism, and his deep dive into Jewish artistic heritage. Attendees also got a thought-provoking glimpse into his research on Nazi propaganda art, shedding light on how art has been used both to oppress and empower.
In the second half of the workshop, students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in creativity, recreating Woz’s colourful, expressive style as a means of healing and Jewish empowerment. This event was especially meaningful in light of the ongoing rise in antisemitism, providing our community with a space to come together, express themselves, and find peace through art.
